Club volleyball is a competitive volleyball program that operates separately from school teams and focuses on player development, advanced training, and higher-level competition.
Players typically:
-
Practice multiple times per week with the same team and staff throughout a season.
-
Compete in weekend tournaments against teams from other cities, states, and sometimes across the country.
-
Receive specialized coaching focused on skills, game strategy, athletic development, and teamwork.
-
Have opportunities to pursue goals ranging from learning the game and building confidence to earning college recruiting exposure.
Club volleyball teams are usually organized by age group and skill level, allowing athletes to train and compete with others at a similar stage of development. The season often runs several months (November to April) and includes practices, tournaments, and occasionally national qualifying events. If teams qualify for a national championship tournament, the season could be extended through June.
Club volleyball is where athletes go to get extra training, play more competitive matches, and accelerate their growth beyond what is typically available during a school or recreational volleyball season.
What is Club Volleyball?

CSDP VOLLEYBALL CLUB
CSDP Volleyball Club is a non-profit developmental volleyball organization in Springfield, Missouri, providing fundamental skills clinics, position-specific clinics, volleytikes clinics, and elite volleyball youth club teams in select age divisions. Our programs offer a variety of opportunities designed to help athletes grow their skills, knowledge, and passion for the game.
The CSDP Model is unique for the area, with a key difference being its emphasis on player and coach development. Each CSDP Elite team has three or more coaches present for practices and competitions, allowing for increased feedback opportunities for players and valuable mentoring opportunities for up and coming coaches.
CSDP Volleyball Club is a USA Volleyball (USAV) affiliated club, competing regionally and nationally in USAV sanctioned events. Scheduled events usually include travel to the Kansas City, Missouri and surrounding area frequently to compete at a high level within our region. CSDP Volleyball Elite club teams have goals of earning bids to USAV Girls Junior National Championships for the 12U + age groups.
Is Club Volleyball for Me?
Club volleyball provides a competitive level of play for youth athletes who are interested in improving their skills and gaining the experience necessary to play in high school and beyond. It is a larger time and financial commitment than recreational play, but also provides significantly more opportunities to learn, grow in skillset, and compete.
Where to Begin
A great way to decide if club volleyball is your next step is to attend one of our clinics or participate in one of our CSDP Futures sessions for your age group. If your player finds themselves wanting more, club volleyball might be for them!
Trying Out for a Team?
Most tryouts take place in July with teams being formed immediately after. The practice and competition season generally begins at the end of November/beginning of December and runs through the end of April (depending on age group and team level).
